The allegations are denied by Russia.President Zelensky said in his video address that “the occupiers” killed “a warrior who bravely said to their faces: ‘Glory to Ukraine!'”

He said, “Greatness to the Legend!’ and I think we should all respond to that as a group. All hail the Heroes! Ukraine, bravo!'”

Mr Zelensky was alluding to a tactical call to war that has become well known among a large number of Ukrainians.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said the footage was “another proof this was genocidal,” and he demanded a “immediate investigation” by the International Criminal Court.

Dmytro Lubinets, Ukraine’s human rights ombudsman, accused Russian soldiers of committing atrocities by disobeying the Geneva Conventions on the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

Andriy Kostin, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General, said a criminal investigation was already underway.Ukrainian troops have previously been accused of torturing, raping, and killing Ukrainian prisoners of war.

In July of last year, a video surfaced showing a caught Ukrainian trooper being emasculated in the Russian-involved Donbas locale of eastern Ukraine.
